Overview

Layr is a VS Code extension that generates comprehensive, actionable project plans from natural language descriptions. Your privacy and security are our top priorities.

Data Storage

• API keys are stored locally in VS Code settings on your machine

• No personal data is collected or transmitted by the extension

• Generated plans remain on your local machine and are never sent to external servers except for AI processing

AI Provider Communication

When generating plans, Layr communicates with AI providers:

• Default (Groq AI): Pre-configured and requires no API key. Your project descriptions are sent to Groq's API for processing.
• Optional providers (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude): If configured, your data is sent to the respective provider's API.

All communication with external services uses secure HTTPS connections.

What We Don't Collect

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Workspace contents or file data
• Generated plans or project descriptions

Security

• The extension runs locally within your VS Code environment

• API keys are stored using VS Code's secure settings storage

• No data is transmitted to third parties except for AI processing through your chosen provider
